San Enrique Youth Lead Tree Planting Activity for Linggo ng Kabataan 2025

San Enrique, Iloilo – September 14, 2025 – With the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” the youth of San Enrique took a bold step toward environmental stewardship through a tree planting activity held at Sitio Vito, Barangay Cabugao Viejo. The event formed part of the municipality’s Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 Celebration.

Carrying the slogan “Plant Today, Breath Tomorrow,” the initiative was spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of San Enrique, the Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation, the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

More than just a symbolic gesture, the activity emphasized the importance of youth participation in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those addressing climate action, sustainable communities, and life on land. Young volunteers, SK leaders, and community partners planted tree seedlings along identified areas, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to climate resilience and ecological protection.

Municipal leaders commended the youth sector for their proactive involvement in local governance and community-building. “This activity reflects how the young people of San Enrique are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also active changemakers of today,” noted one local official.

The event concluded with renewed enthusiasm among the participants, who pledged to continue supporting environmental initiatives and to nurture the seedlings they planted. As the trees grow, so too does the vision of San Enrique’s youth: a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
